The American Judo System is an all inclusive system of learning, teaching, & developing your own style of judo. The system is designed to break judo down in order to give you simple and clear steps to follow that will help you win more matches, throw more people, and improve faster. Judo is not just about throwing. There is a lot that goes into it. The American Judo System will help you develop your movement, hand positioning, understanding of combining throws together, transition phases, competition strategies and tactics to compete against any style of player.
USA Judo is the National Governing Body and member of the US Olympic Committee. It enables all United States athletes to achieve sustained competitive excellence in domestic and international judo competition and to continue the promotion and sport of Judo in the United States.
We have been a registered USA Judo Club since 2022.
Beyond being one of the most prestigious and universal Olympic disciplines, Judo is more than sport - it is also an acknowledged educational tool and a way of life enriched by a moral code and ethic values that have firmly withstood the trial of life. Owing to those values and ethical approach that are inscribed in the DNA of the sport, the International Judo Federation is fully committed to fight against any kind of cheating. A clean and fair play sport is important to promote a better society, which can offer a direction in life to the young generations. Respect, honesty, self-control, friendship, courtesy, honor, courage and modesty - the eight values of the judo moral code are taught to every judoka from the first time they enter a dojo. This code is entirely incompatible with procedures that would go against the spirit of the sport. Judo is and will always be a bastion against bad and blameworthy behavior. Anyone who disrespects the values of Judo shall be immediately and strongly sanctioned. Doping has no place within the world of Judo, neither does competition manipulation or match fixing.
The United States Judo Federation (USJF) is a non-profit(501 3c), tax exempt and educational corporation dedicated to the teaching and promotion of judo in the United States. The USJF is the oldest U.S. National organization of judo, and consists of regional associations called Yudanshakai, or Black Belt Holder’s Association, local clubs or schools (called dojos), and individual members. In order to understand the purpose and goals of the USJF, it is first necessary to consider the purpose and goals of judo itself. As described elsewhere, judo has many different faces – as sport, self-defense, exercise, or general activity. But the overriding goal of judo, as originally developed by Jigoro Kano, is the development of people, and of one’s moral and ethical character. The practice of judo, whether as sport, self-defense, or general exercise, is only the means by which a larger goal is attained – the complete development of oneself as a person.

Freestyle Judo is an outgrowth or continuation of Judo as a sporting activity with adaptations in how a Judo match is scored making it an interesting and positive approach to Judo competition. Freestyle Judo is not a different “system” of Judo. There is only one Judo, and that is the Kodokan Judo of Jigoro Kano ~ Good Judo is good Judo.
Shingitai Jujitsu is a form of martial arts created by John Saylor whose philosophy teaches that shin comprises the mental facet of the art. This also encompasses the "fighting heart" of the Shingitai exponent. The word gi means technique. The Shingitai exponent must make a thorough and realistic technical study. The word tai refers to the body and to the importance of physical fitness in Shingitai Jujitsu. Jujitsu is a fighting art and requires a body that can react when necessary and can physically adapt to the situation at hand John Saylor was the Head Judo Coach at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He arrived at this prestigious position in 1983 by virtue of his success as an athlete in competitive judo.
Shingitai is rooted in the classical martial training of emphasizing effectiveness over aesthetics. Function does indeed dictate the form in Shingitai Jujitsu and its primary objective is to offer realistic, effective self-defense training.
